author(s): tylavsky, frances a; han, luhang; taylor, lauren m sims; mason, w alex; carroll, kecia n; bush, nicole r; lewinn, kaja z; melough, melissa m; hartman, terryl j; zhao, qi | abstract: the objective of this study was to calculate an oxidative balance score (obs) utilizing diet and lifestyle information collected from 1322 women during the second trimester of pregnancy in the conditions affecting neurocognitive development and learning in early childhood study. an energy-adjusted obs was calculated using nutrient information from a food frequency questionnaire (ffq), lifestyle measures, and plasma folate and vitamin d levels. using the least absolute shrinkage and selection operator method, 91 food items from the ffq were selected and they accounted for 82% of the variance in the obs, with cruciferous vegetables, citrus fruits, fruit juice, and coffee being among the highest anti-oxidant predictors, and red meats and alcohol among the highest pro-oxidant contributors. urinary f2-isoprostane, an objective indicator of oxidative stress, was lower with increasing obs quintiles in a stairstep manner (p for trend = 0.0003), suggesting the possible utility of the obs as an indicator of oxidative stress. the obs was moderately correlated with the healthy eating index (correlation coefficient = 0.6076), suggesting it provides a distinct measure of a healthy diet. in conclusion, the obs may serve as a valid reflective indicator of urinary f2-isoprostanes and an epidemiological tool to inform intervention studies, in order to minimize oxidative stress during pregnancy.

psoriasis represents an immune-mediated disease with an unclear cause that’s marked by inflammation triggered by dysfunction in the immune system, which results in inflammation in various parts of the skin. there could be obvious symptoms, such as elevated plaques; these plaques may appear differently depending on the type of skin. this disease can cause inflammation in the elbows, lower back, scalp, knees, or other regions of the body. it can begin at any age, although it most commonly affects individuals between the ages of 50 and 60. specific cells (such as t cells) have been observed to play an obvious role in the pathogenesis of psoriasis, in addition to specific immunological molecules such as tnf-, il-12, il-23, il-17, and other molecules that can aid in the pathogenesis of psoriasis. so, during the past two decades, biologists have created chemical drugs that target these cells or molecules and therefore prevent the disease from occurring. alefacept, efalizumab, adalimumab, ustekinumab, and secukinumab are a few examples of chemical drugs. it was discovered that these chemical drugs have long-term side effects that can cause defects in the patient's body, such as the development of the rare but life-threatening disorder progressive multifocal leukoencephalopathy (pcl). its rapidly progressive infection of the central nervous system caused by the jc virus and other drugs may cause increased production of neutralising anti-drug antibodies (ada) and the risk of infusion reactions like pruritus, flushing, hypertension, headache, and rash. so, our context intends to talk in our review about natural products or plants that may have therapeutic characteristics for this disease and may have few or no side effects on the patient's body.
the number of gout patients of japanese people increased 5.12-fold from 1986 to 2022 (1986: 0.255 million; 2022: 1.306 million). the aim of this article is to suggest what micronutrient intake is important for the prevention of gout in japanese people in 2022 referencing the results of clinical research reported. the author used the data of the comprehensive survey of living conditions in japan for the number of gout patients (1986-2022) and the data of the national health and nutrition survey in japan (1946-2022) for the intake of micronutrients. micronutrient intake of japanese people in 2022 were compared with those in 2019. the relationship between the number of gout patients and micronutrient intake in japanese people was examined. the daily intake of micronutrients of japanese people in 2022 were evaluated using dietary reference intakes. the daily intake of vitamin e, vitamin k, and pantothenic acid of japanese people in 2022 were higher compared to those in 2019, respectively. whereas the daily intake of vitamin a, vitamin d, vitamin b2, niacin, vitamin b6, folate, vitamin b12, vitamin c, sodium, salt, calcium, potassium, magnesium, phosphorus, iron, copper, and zinc of japanese people in 2022 were lower compared to those in 2019. the daily intake of vitamin b1 of japanese people in 2022 was the same as that in 2019. the daily intake of vitamin a, vitamin d, vitamin e, vitamin b1, vitamin b2, folate, vitamin b12, vitamin c, salt, calcium, iron, and copper were negatively correlated with the number of gout patients, respectively. the daily niacin intake was positively correlated with the number of gout patients. modification of micronutrient intake for the prevention of gout in japanese people (especially adults) in 2022 is suggested as follows: limiting or decreasing intake of sodium and salt; decreasing intake of niacin; decreasing or pay attention to not to excessive intake of vitamin k, pantothenic acid, vitamin b12, phosphorus, and copper; increase intake of vitamin a, vitamin d, vitamin e, vitamin b1, vitamin b6, folate, calcium, potassium, and magnesium; increase intake of vitamin b2 in japanese men (aged 15-59 years) and women (aged 15-49 years), vitamin c in japanese men (aged 20-59 years) and women (aged 20-49 years), iron in japanese men (aged 20-59 years) and women (aged 20-69 years, ≥ 75 years), and zinc in japanese men (aged ≥ 20 years) and women (aged 20-69 years, aged ≥ 80 years).
